About

A Tool to compensate,
A Mindset to change.
Green GPR started as an alliance of media stakeholders and ClimatePartner as an open source initiative.

GreenGRP calculator determines the CO₂ footprint of individual advertising measures according to channel and reach. The CO₂ emissions of either the entire campaign or each advertising medium within a campaign can then be neutralized through certified climate protection projects in cooperation with ClimatePartner.

But this is only the beginning. With new ideas, solutions, production methods and ways of working, CO₂ emissions are to be reduced further and even pushed to zero. GreenGRP sees itself as a platform and incubator to establish new processes and show future alternatives in climate-neutral communication.

ClimatePartner develops and promotes climate protection projects around the world, offering a wide range of carefully chosen, certified climate protection projects with varying focuses:
  1. Nature based solutions

Reforestation, forest protection, Blue Carbon (CO₂ storage in oceans and coastal ecosystems like mangrove forests), regenerative agriculture.
  2. Social Impact

Clean cooking ovens, drinking water, small biogas plants.
  3. Renewable Energy

Wind power, solar energy, water power, biogas, biomass, geothermal energy.

Nature based solutions
Training local stakeholders how to manage forests sustainably
The project’s 72,843 hectares area acts as a guardian of the rich biodiversity of the region, also serving as an ecological corridor between the local conservation areas. The aim is to improve the quality of life, offering social empowerment by training farmers in sustainable farming practices and forest management. There are some important biodiversity conservation goals, including the maintenance of forest coverage and the protection of several wildlife species.

Social Impact
How cookstoves help protect the rainforest
Our project enables households to reduce their wood consumption. In many of the world's poorer regions, families cook their meals over an open fire, often in enclosed spaces. This method of cooking is however not energy efficient, as large amounts of heat go to waste. The project introduces efficient cooking stoves made of local clay and sand. The so-called Canarumwe model is produced by a local cooperative and consumes two thirds less fuel than the three-stone fire. The stoves are offered at a subsidized price so that low-income households can afford them.

Renewable Energy

Promoting clean wind energy in Chile
The two wind farms "El Pacifico" and "La Cebada", located in the municipality of Ovalle in the Chilean region of Coquimbo, supply electricity from renewable energy sources with a total of 57 wind turbines and an installed capacity of 109.6 MW. The two wind farms make a valuable contribution to climate protection: Since the amount of electricity would otherwise have been produced using fossil fuels, the climate protection project saves around 197,420 tons of CO₂ per year and also contributes to the energy transition in Chile by expanding the renewable energy sector. In addition to the positive contribution to climate protection, it also promotes sustainable development in the region, as it creates long-term jobs in Ovalle.

Participating Partners

Various media houses and publishers have already joined GreenGRP and taken action in compensating the emission of their campaigns or even entire companies:

Ad Alliance, Axel Springer Media Impact, Bauer Advance, El Cartel Media, Funke Medien Gruppe, Hubert Burda Media, SevenOne Media, Ströer and RMS have joined the initiative and committed to its goals – the integration of their current and future media spaces and CO₂ valuations help to keep GreenGRP up to date on a regular basis.
